Default Anyone know how to remove Sealant?

Hey guys I purchased some rims from a member, he polished them with Klasse Seelant
to keep them shiny... However now the sealant is now cracking and water is getting under the filmy seal... causing it to look bad...

I tried breaking some of it off, but there are still parts bonded onto the rim. Which I cannot get a grip of to chip it off. any suggestions?

Isn't Klasse Sealant almost like a wax in the terms of the way it acts and protects? (I've never personally used it) But wouldn't clay bar or APC help in its removal? Have you tried those methods?

I haven't tried anything yet... I didn't want to put wrong application on it and it ruins everything.... For the rim finish.

I think the seelant made the wheel look great but when it deteriorates its not a pleasant sight

Oh I got you. Well, I am pretty certain clay bar couldn't remove the finish on your wheels. I think most finishes on rims are clear coat so if you can use clay bar on regular paint it should be fine on the wheels. APC is just all purpose cleaner or maybe a degreaser. Try them on a small discrete spoke of the wheel. I hope it all works out whatever method you choose.

Sealants don't crack. You most likely have a permanent coating like clear coat of some sort.

Post a picture.

Wax/Sealant doesn't crack. It must be the wheels itself

Sounds like the wheel was sprayed with a clear coat of some sort and it is peeling off. This is not the action of a micron thin sealant or wax coating. I'd bet the wheels were polished and then sprayed.

Looks like clearcoat failure to me. Definitely not Klasse sealant.

With the peeling,i attempted to pull some off because if how out started to look...

I had the rim stored away but some water got to them and started setting under the film.... Looked horrible and looked like it wanted to start to oxidize thats why I started pulling it off.

That's not a sealant coming off. More like the finish that your ripping off

So what exactly is klasse seelant? The description I read on it really fit the description of the finish so thats why I thought it was the seelant that I was peeling off.

So what do you guys suggest that I use to get the rest off? Its happening to about 2 of the other rims

It's not sealant. Klasse is an additional layer of protection on a surface, basically keeping crap off the finish and sealing in the layers underneath, but it's not anywhere near the same as a clearcoat, nor as thick.

You're going to have to peel it off. And what do you mean "about" 2 of the other rims? It's either 2 or not.

Probably going to need to have them recleared by a wheel shop, who can also get the remaining clear off for you, otherwise you're peeling it off yourself and polishing them.

This damn auto text... I don't know why it said "about" but yeah I will have to look into a rim repair shop handling that. I'm nervous about causing further damage to the wheels.
