An old detailers opinion, FWIW.
The best tools and products I've used to date are:
Meguiar's G110V2 DA buffer
2 - 5 1/2" Microfiber Cutting Disks
2 - 5 1/2" Microfiber Finishing Disks
1 - W67DA Flexible Backing Plate
1 - 16 oz. Bottle D300 Correction Compound
1 - 16 oz. Bottle D301 Finishing Wax
1 Clay bar kit
1 bottle of tin of your favorite Carnauba Wax or sealant
1 bottle of Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax for weekly refresh of your finish after washing.
You should be able to get these product for around $250 shipped. Check with some of our vendors here as they offer discounts and are top notch.
These are the best products I've used in over 50 years of detailing. The microfiber pads are absolutely game changers. I now don't use foam pads at all. After detailing all my life, I don't often get excited by new technology but I absolutely love these pads.
