Post Help with Zaino

I just got my Zaino pruducts and wanted to know how do you use the Clay bar and the other products! I have the info off of the website but it does not describe how yo use the clay bar! I read that this is the best product for talking up all grime off of the car and preparing it for waxing. I have some insect residue from my road trip and wanted ot know if the clay bar would take it up. Any recomendations on the use of the CLAY BAR?

These are the instructions off of the Zaino web site:
http://www.zainobros.com/files/z18.htm

They are pretty specific. Read them again.

Distilled version:
1. Wash your vehicle. No need to dry it
2. Cut the clay bar into a manageable size. I use a 50g portion of clay.
3. Place the remainder of the clean, unused clay in a ziptop baggie.
4. Flatten the clay so it fits under 2-3 fingers. See attached pic.
5. Spray the lube onto a 3’ x 3’ section.
6. Rub the clay bar over the area. Don't drop it.
7. When the clay bar looks dirty, fold it to expose clean clay.
8. If you feel/see the clay sticking, spray more lube as needed.
9. When that work area feels smooth, wipe off excess lube with a clean dry towel
10. Move on and repeat steps 5 through 9.
11. Re-wash the entire vehicle with Z-7 Car Wash.
12. Dry entire vehicle.
13. Apply Z-1, Z-2 or Z-5 immediately.

Cool

Daddy-O,

Thanks for the write up! I read the article and it is specific but I saw that people was using different clay bar utencils and had different issues with the product. I really appreciate the pic! I see that you are an expert. I may have to bring my car to NC so that I can really get it PROFFESIONALLY DONE! Thanks again. I want to do it this weekend. Two more questions! I read that the weather can really play a part in waxing any car. It will be about 65 here in VA how will affect the clay bar and waxing process? Will doing the job in direct sunlight at this cool weather hurt also?

As long as the surface of the vehicle remains cool/warm to the touch, all is well. Direct sun can really heat up the surface of the paint, making the clay too soft. Play it by ear.

Claying is easy. You'll find that out within 5 minutes of starting.

Just don't drop the clay...If you do, toss it.

Applying the Zaino car polish system? Follow the directions:

I just used z18 yesterday. but I never like using it, maybe I dont know how to use it. I used the small portion of clay bar, and started with one side of bar. but I can never preserve the shape of clay bar. I fold it to the clean side but dirty part come back on the surface while folding many times. I feel like I'm scratching the body.
Z18 works great, but ..maybe I need to study more on how to use it

Taka,

How long did it take for you to clay your whole car? I want to do my car this weekend. I would like to judge how long that it may take me to clay the whole car? Did you see remarkable results after claying your car? I am going to clay the car then use the Zaino swirl remover and then 2 coats of the zaino wax. I think that it may take me 2 days and I do not know if that is a good idea due to my car not being garaged and may get contaminants overnight.

dont take me wrong, clay bar works great. I haven't used clay bar for like a year so I decided to do it again. I dont know how often you need to use the clay bar but the result is awesome
Since I was struggling with folding the clay bar, I spent almost 2 hours on it. VI Rep, do you have ZFX? if you dont wanna spend 2-7 days, I suggest you to get ZFX. Recently I got it for myself, good stuff. you can do all job for one day. or if you just worry about dust by leaving your car overnight, you should use Z6 before and after Z2 or Z5. good luck
