Default Finally got around to it

First post here, bought my 2006 is250 in black about a month ago. Paint was in pretty bad condition and after much reading about detailing i bought a dual action polisher along with Menzerna polish + good pads and quality microfibre.

This took me about 8 hours of work. My back is killing me!

Washed > clay barred > polish

Check it out..

It was long and tedious work, but the results were worth it. It still needs a coat of wax to seal it up. But i'll have to finish it tomorrow as this took the WHOLE DAY.. will post pics of car soon with wax on.

It was my 2nd time actually, practiced on an old car first. Much easier than i anticipated, these dual action polishers are quite fool proof!

Definately a great feeling when your done with it, couldn't stop staring at it today while it was in the sun. haha can't wait to see what it's gonna look like with a coat of carnauba wax on it

It looks great!

The first time on any car is the most dificult, and takes the most time! Besides, you keep learning new tricks that work for you, and make you better AND faster. Also, maintaining an already cared for car, is far easier than restoring one that hasn't been cared for.

You could be hooked!

Yeah for sure! it's not very hard work, just extremely time consuming. Glad i won't have to do this again for a few months at least.

Thinking of getting some nano-coating - Opti-Coat ! looks like awesome stuff

It does wonder for my rubber dust on my wheels from rubbing the fender so its obviously awesome on paint as well

Just put a coat of carnauba on it. SO MUCH EASIER THAN POLISHING. haha

Nice job! I see both depth and clarity so it looks really nice. And yep, I was referring to that

Opti-coat is certainly the most durable coating of the bunch, but it is hard to get right. Get it wrong, it'll be a hazy mess that you have to machine polish off again. IMO best left to the pro's.

C.Quartz is far easier to use, probably the most wax like in use out of the coatings (you can leave the residue on the paint for a while before removing). It also looks better than Opti-coat. It has a bit of a darkening effect, and it's much glossier.

I know you said durability > looks, but you can have both, plus ease of use with C.Quartz.

For reference for CQuartz, as it is on my Camry, its been about 1.5 years and its still going rather strong. I still have all the super fine minor swirls from a dealer prep I did on accident so nothing new has been added lol
