No harm will come of it. If anything you are helping your tail lights to stay protected.

Windows? I've got to try that. I hate waterspots on windows. I'm guessing the wax will keep water from sticking around too long?

Absolutely. I use that and then the rain-x washer fluid in my washer resivoir, and rarely ever have to use my wipers. I usually replace them due to dryrot rather than wear. It does the same thing it does for paint, it helps make the bugs and other shat easier to clean as well.

You only need to polish your taillights and headlights maybe once if it's bad. Putting wax on it gives it extra protection. However, most waxes lasts about a month, it's better to put a sealant over it. If that still doesn't satisfy you, you can put a layer of opti-coat.

But for the average consumer use, I recommend waxing it after each time you wash your car, just like how you should wax the entire car after you wash it.

Many waxes also contain solvents that could soften and haze plastic over time. Sealants, IMHO, are a much better choice.

I've also not been a fan of wax on windshields as they will often cause wiper smearing when driving in the rain. Here again sealants seem to do a better job, both avoiding smearing and also lasting longer.

I use sealants on my taillights, headlights and glass. Wax for paint. Less chance of wax residue and no smearing for wipers on glass as jim said.
