Question About ClearCoat (not car related)
Hey, I was wondering if Clear coat could do this or not.
I have a glass bottle I've cut and made into a cup, it's sanded down and smooth and works well for drinking out of. but it has a sticker onthe side and I'd like to be able to run the cup through a dish washer without the sticker coming off. If I were to spray Clear coat over it could I eventually create a layer of clear coat that could protect the sticker from the dishwasher? Or would such a thing not work how I'd like it to.
I'm familiar with using clear coat and wetsanding procedure, I just wouldn't be able to pre-sand the sticker, an I'm worried the clear coat may not adhere to the sticker and just slough off. If anyone has any idea I'd like to hear it, otherwise I'll just experiment and see if it works.

If you don't get an answer here, you might try a local Hobby Lobby or Michael's, both craft stores. Or perhaps an internet search for "food grade varnish" or some such. Decoupage might work, but not sure about holding up to the dishwasher. Then again, clear coat might work just fine.
