I voted and wasn't surprised to be in the minority with 'low gloss'.

There are a lot of misconceptions about tire dressings. In general the rule of thumb I follow is to use water-based products as opposed to anything with silicon.

My absolute go-to is Poorboy's Bold N Bright. By far the best tire dressing I've ever used. One light coat = low gloss. Wipe it dry after a minute and you've got satin. Two light coats = high gloss. The product is very durable and doesn't sling.

For folks that want a long lasting glossy finish, I recommend Four Star UTP gel.

I hear you there, tip on using this stuff since it shoots out of the can in such a high mist; which ends up on the car even when there is no wind. Walk away from the car and spray it on a foam or wax applicator and then just appy. Makes for more control and less overspray, but out of all the tire shines i prefer the stoners. However maguires NXT tire shine is just as good and has not overspray, the only think i did not like about it is it runs and streaks and you still have run a applicator or cloth over to spread it out.

I use Meguiar's Endurance High Gloss and the shine does not last too long. I am going to switch to something else.

I just tried Meguairs NXT spray on tire dressing. By FAR the best I've used and I've used everything. I've used sprays, aeresol cans, wiping it on etc etc...

When I was younger I worked at a dealer PT and I remember the silicon they used to put on the tires and it was incredible. This reminds me of it.

I've driven around and its still on. It also sprays thin so it doesn't get on all the wheel, etc.

It cost me $7.50 at Advance Auto Parts.

FYI...here are the results of two light coats of Poorboy's Bold & Bright. Five minutes or so between coats, applied with an Adam's detailing sponge followed by a light buff with a microfiber towel. Zero sling and amazing durability.

I recently stumbled across some Varoom tire shine at a local discount house. I picked up a couple of bottles to try out. After using it I ran back over and picked up another 10 bottles. $1.49 per bottle......I love a bargin that works

I like shiney better. The Insane shine also makes the rubber look blacker.

Meguiar's Insane Shine on my Bridgestone Alenzas.

Meguiar's HotShine on my Goodyear RSA's (wiped down after application)

A friend who shows classic cars showed me a trick for those of us who prefer a flat black look. Most classic shows do not allow tire shine products, but many competitors use a 50/50 mix of Armorall and water. While I wouldn't put the regular product on my tires, this works pretty well - and cuts the cost of the product by 50%. Apply, let stand for a few minutes, and wipe off. Tires look "new" without being shiny.
