I mix my own creation. 2 parts mothers fx, 1 part eagle one, 2 parts meguires high gloss. Condense into 1 container, shake well and go to work. Place in sun 20 - 30 after application to ensure no sling off. Very little sling without putting in sun on black car. Result, high gloss wet look, that is durable and last.

ok...the post is so long..I decided to just post. So I apologize if it is a repeat.

A while back, I read people on e46 fanatic used peanut butter (of course not the chunky style)on their rubber trim. and this worked. So I wonder if it works on tires?

Peanut butter works very well at removing hardened white carnuba wax from rubber trim.

That's where its usefulness stops.

For conditioning anything rubber? No way. Much more effective not to mention a whole lot easier and cleaner to use a real product.

Black magic flys off doesn't it? Dupont and Shining monkey tire spray work well to. They Hardly fling any mess on the car... if none at all...

I picked up a gallon of Armor Guard tire dressing. They are a professional detailer supply company here in Ft Lauderdale. It's a purple liquid that has a sweet, fruity smell to it. If you spray it directly onto the tires, it gives you that wet look, but after a few days of use, looks like a dark, satin finish. I bought it for about $30 for the gallon.

i have not, and will not read all 8 pages of this, but you need to be careful what you put on your tires... some tire dressings will actually cause the tire to dry out quicker than it should...

michelin makes the ONLY tire manufacturer approved tire dressing, and it doubles as protectant as well...

FWIW, This has been discussed on another forum and here is Meguiar's response below. I have used Meguiar's products on my tires for many, many years and have never had a tire issue due to the dressing applied to the tire. I feel very comfortable when I use their tire dressings.

Meguiar's is a leader in automotive surface care products, we would never create a product that would be detrimental to the rubber used to make tires. Our chemists fully understand that the only thing between your car and the road are your tires and safety is an utmost concern.

Not all tire dressings are equal even though they say they are labeled... "Tire Dressing". Make sure you select a tire dressing that has NO Petroleum Distillates. PD's are what accellerate dry rot/cracking. They look really good on the tires (really greasy/oily look), but they are the fastest way to ruin your sidewalls. Beware. Some of the Eagle One and Black Magic products are the ones that come to mind.

There are tire dressings that don't fly off the tire and stain the lower rocker panels and trim, ( I use one myself ) but they generally don't leave as high a gloss either...that is one of the trade-offs.

I also use a circular disc the same size as the wheel to cover up the wheel when I spray it so that it doesn't get on the metal alloy...that can make a mess on the sponge when you go to wash the wheels later.

Too many dressings, though, DO fly off, even if you give them time to properly dry. I have never understood why.

I can say through experience that Zaino Z-16 does not sling or accelerate dry rot ot cracking. Based on Jim's response that is the case with Megs as well. I have never had a problem with FX Tire Shine from Mother's either.

I found the tire dressing dry out tire ( sidewall ) much faster than have them not dress......... Don't know about you but with the 300 each on tires they better not dry on me till the treads are done!!!!
