Since this thread popped up again, might as well give an update...

Coating has been applied for 6 months - still glossy as can be, still beading quite nicely. So far so good.

Default 22ple

Applied in late Dec. 2012. I concur that it make the car easier to clean, stays cleaner longer and enhances the paint on the darker colors. The lower picture was just after it was applied and the upper one is during the month of April 2013.

Looks great! and I know these pics don't do it justice, silver can be tough to capture the depth and gloss in a photo!

Default 22PLE on my new 350

I like what I've been reading about 22PLE for paint and wheels and am thinking about doing this myself. Just picked up my 350 last Saturday. After it's first wash, what other prep needs to be done before I apply the 22PLE? My car just got off the boat a couple of weeks ago and the dealer didn't do any detailing that I'm aware of. I'm assuming there is a factory clearcoat. Do I need to wait a while for the paint to fully cure? It's collecting pollen, so it will need a wash this Saturday. Would you polish a car like this before applying 22PLE, even if there are no apparent scratches, swirls or blemishes?

Factory paint is already cured.... the entire car will need to be polished before applying any type of coating. You can DIY or take it to a reputable professional detailer (not a body shop or some cheap detailer!). I would bet money that there are at least some minor swirls and/or scratches, even if it is a brand new car... I have worked on too many "new" cars to think that any car is perfect. The other reason to polish the car is to make sure that the surface is completely clean. It needs to be surgically clean so that the coating can bond properly.

Thanks. I'm going to diy, but will practice on my old accord before selling it.

Since everyone is showing off their skin... here is mine... First one was taken right after it was done. Second one was after first wash. Third one was after two layers of SNS. Great products! Got to thank Phil for referring me to a great detailer and Syd for the push to get this done.

I am missing my Obsidian... My super gloss days are over. Although short lived I loved every minute of shining my car to the max. However I don't regret switching to the SP LS. Hey, BN... Maybe an Obsidian LS , just kidding.
