You do not want to use toothpaste. You're just introducing more marring into the paint. Use products designed for that particular use.

What product would you recommend? It was a one time thing and i learned my lesson, so i wont have to do it ever again. It did work is all im sayin, and i dont see any visible damage from the toothpaste at least. I washed my car and gave it a nice hand waxing today and its looking amazing.

There are many, many products you can use. Put a bright light up to your hood, and you will see that while it may have polished out the larger scratches, you have millions of micromars in the paint now where you rubbed in the toothpaste. Waxes also fill marring for a time, so it may not look great for long.

Literally every company that makes car cleaning prodicts makes a hand applied scratch remover. Meguiars Scratch X, Scratch Out, it goes on and on.
