Default Removing holograms from a lexus GS, m105 or m205?

have had some issues with this car since i got it last month, car wash guy put a scratch on it, took it to a detail shop to remove scratch, when polishing, put holograms.

found somebody else that supposidely was going to remove the holograms, while he improved it, i still see holograms. swirls aren't really that big of a deal for me, just holograms that really annoy me.

don't feel comfy using a DA, so i'm going to attempt this by hand and do panels one at a time.

the second guy that was supposed to remove the holograms said lexus paint was soft, which is why he didn't use an aggressive cutting compound. i have an obsidian 2013 gs350.

any tips on what to use? will m105 and a foam pad be too hard? should i stick to m205 and a foam pad?

once i do this, do i need to re-wax?

thanks

BTW i looked at a strength chart, looks like m205 is weaker than scratch x, i've used scratch x 2.0 and it hasn't helped much, so i'm guessing i'll need m105?

Those new GS paint is probably one of the softest paint you will work with.... M105 to remove holograms? That's gonna be way too aggressive.

DA polisher with a finishing pad and M205 should do it. Personally I'd do something like a black or crimson pad with 85rd or 106fa as I fine them nicer to work with and finer than the M205.

I would not attempt it by hand. That's way too much work and you're never going to get the results a machine will give you. If you already have a DA just use that...it's not going to hurt the paint unless you keep the pad in one spot at an angle for a very long time almost trying to cause damage. You got nothing to worry about.

the issue is that i dont have a DA.

but might be a good idea to get one

once i use the m205, then i would hand wax it? im assuming the m205 will take off all the wax right?

Yes, get a DA
Yes the m205 will remove any product you've applied.

M205 with an uber blue or even uber green pad would work.

which da will you be using?

if you go by hand you will not get it done.

if you can pick up Menzerna SF4000 or Sonax Fine Abrasive Paste you will get the results you need.

we just put about 20 hours into a black GS.

the above steps was what got it done.

i have never used a da before, was thinking of maybe getting the meguiars DA?

one thing i am worried about, doesn't it say that the pad need to be in full contact w the body of the car? if so, how will i use the da on the bumpers, curved body parts, etc.

sure thing this is the kit you can pick up.

Griot's 6 inch random orbital polisher with Meg's M105 and M205

there are a few good solid waxes and sealants

1Z einszett Glanz Wax
Collinite 845
Sonax Net Shield
Menzerna Power Lock

for the tight spots you can carefully maneuver the machine to hit the spots, if not you can pick up a smaller backing plate and pad or you can do it by hand.

4 inch bp and 4 inch buffing pads

the Griots and the PC are both Dual Action Random Orbital Polishers.

You can wax it any way you want, it's your choice. I always do it by hand.

I wouldn't do a polishing pad on that paint, just do a finishing pad. Don't need polishing pad to remove holograms.

will finishing pad be strong enough to remove swirls as well as holograms?

while the holograms are my main concern, i would like to remove swirls as well but since my car has very soft paint, i assume this is why i would use a finishing pad instead of polishing?

also, what speed on the DA, i'm assuming 4?

sorry for all the q's.

thanks
