Bumpers on Pearl White peeling yellow
I have a 93 LS 400, pearl white paint. The paint has chipped off the front and rear bumpers right at the 'turn' from the horizontal to the vertical. Is this is normal occurrence? If so is repainting the only solution? At about $700?

Apparently, others have experienced the same problems on their white pearl painted Lexus.
Here's the results of a search on Pearl paint in this forum. You can read of others' experiences with this prob.

Good luck.

Well - I did look at that thread before I made the original post. They're talking about the white paint changing colors - to yellow. My problem is the paint is peeling or chipping off - just around the parts of the flexible bumper where the 'flex-stress' is most present. I think I saw a post from a pearl black owner that cited an adhesion problem. Sounds like that's what I have. Unfortunately the Lexus dealer does not think it is a warranty issue. And my car is a 93 .....!

just leave it...
i had this LS 400 1990 (first year lexus was introduced to american market*) over the years it got worst, rear bumber. yours will too. same problem. white pearl paint. first lines , then cracks, then peels to reveal an ugly egg yolk yellow. come to think of it i got rear ended and they got alot worst from that i think. it was pretty bad, but i didnt let it bother me, i just left it. it was an old car. if you want you could paint it, 700 soundz like a lexus quote. go to a private business, shop around. i would wait tell it gets worst, theres always time. hope that helps!
