Default After OOC wash

i've been using ONR & ONRWW religiously since the car was opti - coated (a couple of days after i bought her). today i used OOC and i must say it is a much better wash than ONRWW. ONRWW is amazing but the OOC is better, the paint is glossier and smoother. waiting for the OCW to arrive so i can top the OOC after a wash.

OOC = optimum Opti-clean. I think I have found a product that I'll use exclusively. The only other product I use is Sonax Polymer Net Shield and Sonax Brilliant shine Detailer... The rest are Optimum... Oh, and Eagle One for my wheels and tires.

I've never used the OOC as a wash. I dilute it and use it as a QD/heavy QD and it works great. Its a very versatile product.

Are you using the OOC as you would ONR or using it in a spray application like I am?

hey SW what's happenin captain. I actually do it both ways, but I use the diluted OOC in a spray bottle to pre soak the panel before I wash with the diluted OOC from the wash bucket. Can't wait for the OCW to arrive so I can slap some wax on her. I have no wax on the car. I do have a coat of SNS on her that I applied about a month ago and it's holding up quite well. I've been using the Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer. But now that I ordered the OCW...

Well, OOC is not a rinseless wash. It's not a shampoo either. It's their APC.

So you'd have to rinse the car afterwards if you truly want to remove any of its remnants. Also, using that as your go-to wash is kind of pointless. If the car is opti-coated, you don't need such a harsh chemical (not to say it's not safe) to do a typical maintenance wash. ONR or any regular soap will do a fine job at keeping the car clean.

The only time I ever use APC in a wash is if I am about to clay the car and re-polish it or put new wax on it; or if it has bird **** or other stuck on crap, and the APC is basically used as a pre-soak before the wash. Using OOC will definitely reduce the durability of any sealant or wax, not sure how it will effect OC since it's in a different category.

I've never heard of OOC being used in the same way as ONR or ONRWW, and I do a lot of trolling on the internet detailing forums. OOC certainly IS considered a waterlress wash, see this from the OPT website:

Optimum Opti-Clean is the most advanced waterless wash in the marketplace. It is designed to wipe away dirt and grime from automotive paint and other surfaces safely and effectively in a spray and wipe application. Optimum Opti-Clean contains the same proven polymer system that is used in the Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine as well as additional polymers that add greater lubricity and protection to the paint. Simply spray Optimum Opti-Clean on any surface and wipe off with a plush microfiber towel till the area is clean and dry.
Part of what makes OOC such a versatile product is that at different concentrations it can also serve as a APC type product, you can use it on interiors, glass, etc. I think you may be thinking of Power Clean, which is an APC product.

Having both OOC and ONR it never really occurred to me to use OOC like ONR, to me its a spray and wipe type product. I'd be interested to get Optimum's thoughts on using it diluted in a bucket.

I'm doing some digging around, and Optimum definately does not intend for OOC to be used in a bucket as ONR is used. See the below post from Chris @ Optimum on the AutoGeek forum:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...tml#post476612

If you mean that ONR is recommended for dirtier cars...that is correct. Although Opti Clean is a higher concentration, it is intended as a waterless wash or a spray n wipe cleaner and a rinseless (ONR) can be used on anything except cakes on dirt.
I would recommend saving OOC to use in a spray bottle as a waterless wash/heavy QD and sticking to the ONRWW as my primary wash.

ok my eyebrow just arched after reading this... thanx SW, i was under the impression that it can be used the same as ONR... . going to troll the Optimum forum.... just finished trolling the optimum forum, and SW is right ... the OOC is not meant to be used as you would ONR. thanx SW, i would have wasted my OOC. now it will last me a lot longer when i use it as a QD or pre soak a panel before i wash her with ONRWW.

I was thinking the samething about OOC. How do you wash your car with OOC since its supposed to be diluted with 3 parts water. You would be using a lot of it if you are using it in the same sense as ONR. I have ONR and OOC, I usually just use OOC as a qd. It's pretty strong of a product too. I also used to use OOC as a presoak wash for when my car is heavily soiled before using ONR, but after discovering auto finesse citrus lifes been a lot easier.
