Review: Meguiar's Smooth Clay Kit
I entered a giveaway contest back on January 10, 2013 in which Dave posted a link to. Thanks Dave for the head's up! The sponsor is Autogeek. Thanks Bryan for the free claybar kit giveaway!

I was the winner and received the Meguiar's Smooth Clay kit two Thursday's ago. I was able to wash, clay and wax my 2011 CT.
First I washed my CT with Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo. Then I started with the clay. I tore off a small piece, used water to lubricate the paint and lightly rubbed the clay back and forth on the surfaces of the CT. My CT wasn't too dirty. Most of the dirt was on the roof and rear hatch. I did feel the difference of the paint surface before the clay and after the clay. Overall the clay kit was very easy to use.

So did you like it? I've used that clay kit over and over, and love it every time.
On a related note, I've started using the Nanoskin Nanoscrub Sponges (med/fine) before claying. The sponges clean up 70-80% of the particles and I finish up with Meg's Clay Kit. It takes a little longer, but it cuts down on the amount of work the clay has to do significantly. I can dip the sponge in water and keep working, but the clay only lasts so long. And we all hate having to knead that clay right?
So did it pass the baggie test afterward? Everytime I think I got it nice and clean, the bag tells me otherwise.

Overall I like the Meguiar's clay. I have used Zano clay in the past but you can only get it through on-line order. Meguiar's is much easier to go out and get.

Instant detail spray is often used as clay lube. It has to have lubricity so that it can be used on a dusty car without scratching the paint. That same lubricity makes it suitable for use as a clay lube. I use ONR diluted according to the instructions on the bottle as my clay lube. When I started detailing I don't think there were many clay lubes on the market, and many of the clay vendors recommended their instant detail spray as a clay lube.
Claying using water as your clay lube is just asking for marring. You may not see it on some colors, especially light colors, but owners of cars with soft black paint would be well advised to never do what you did to their cars.

There was no clay lube included but the wax. I used water as lubrication, rinsed the CT and used the spray wax for the final touch. Overall I like the Meguiar's clay. I have used Zano clay in the past but you can only get it through on-line order. Meguiar's is much easier to go out and get.

I too use this clay kit on all the cars I do. works great. I show people what is left on the car and you should see their faces...priceless. Definitely use the spray though. You have a darker color car so be careful when your wiping it down.
