removing pinstripe
Was reading about how some people did this using an "eraser" either made by 3m or car quest brand. Anyone suggest one over the other?
To those who have done it, can you provide some insight on the process? Seems pretty straightforward but any details would be helpful!

3M makes an "eraser" wheel. Spin it on a drill and it does a great job removing pinstripes, molding/emblem tape etc. I used one recently to remove the tape when I changed out the rear spoiler.

I was able to remove mine by taping around the pin stripes, then with a little acetone on a microfiber cloth, I rubbed the painted on pin stripes off.
It took a lot of elbow grease, then i started using a plastic scraper behind the microfiber cloth and it came off faster.
Took off the tape, put a little acetone on the cloth again and used my finger to rub the area once more.
Wiped it a final time and then applied carnuba wax and it looks just like new.
DO NOT OVERUSE THE ACETONE on the microfiber cloth. Just a little dab should work.

Did you ever get them removed?
I just did this last weekend on my 2003 ES300 (Black Garnet Pearl). Pinstripe was cracked and worn looking. I used an Astro Pneumatic 400E Eraser Pad (~$11 from Amazon) attached to a standard drill.
Once you get the feel for it, it goes very fast, maybe 1 hour tops for both sides. Just strips it right off. I used 3M adhesive remover to wipe off excess adhesive and eraser residue, then hand polished the area with Megs ultimate compound to blend the minor difference in fading/wear under the stripe (then clayed and waxed whole car).
You can't tell they were ever there and the car looks much better as a result. I was very happy with the eraser pad approach, and the Astro is cheaper than the 3M...
