Default Any way to properly run a Griots Polisher off a portable power source?

Hey guys

ive finally decided to stop mucking around by hand and I got myself a 6 inch Griots garage polisher with a bunch of nice little goodies to get me started.

My only problem is I do not have a power supply anywhere in my garage, so Im wondering if its possible to use a stand-alone unit?

I don't want to run anything off my cars battery as I don't want to risk blowing any fuses or relays or ANYTHING, but ive seen contructions guys bring their own power source to job sites and they seme to be able to run power tools off it, so why should this be any different?

Anyways Ive found this and was thinking of ordering it, wanted to check with you guys first.

Or would I need something like a gas powered generator ????

Thanks !!!!!!

A long extension cord (assuming you can get one there) won't leave you stranded halfway through working on your car .

Unless you get a generator, the battery things are really short term solutions that take planning to use.

Thanks Dave

yea that's what I was worried about.

Unfortunately an extension cord seems to be out of the question as its an underground parking, there are no outlets anywhere.

I dont need power all day , just for an hour or two while I practice buffing and polishing my car, I dont mind taking a break to charge it again if need be.

I was thinking gas powered generators but that's probably a bit much with the noise and attention it will bring.

Gonna keep searching to see what the best heavy duty , industrial type portable unit on the market is.

If not I might go see if I can sniff out a hidden power outlet somewhere

Do you have a buddy with a garage you could use? I'm with Dave... You're going to want to be able to plug it in to an actual outlet.

I'm assuming you aren't looking to spend $1000 on some Honda or Yamaha portable generator, so that's out of the question.

Long extension cord is your best bet, though get a nice sized one if you're going really long. The Griots polisher will pull about 7-8 amps.

No not really, I have a couple mechanics who would lend me some time in their shop for a fee , but I cant drive my car in the winter as its pakred up till spring.

I was actually considering a gas powered Honda , but I think the noise would be too much and it would cause too much attention.

I went downstairs and theres no outlets, so looks like im out of luck till spring
