Default A little fun with some Leather Seats and SEM Sure Coat

Hey guys

so I got into leather repair and refinishing quite a while ago.

Here is my latest endeavor , a Lincoln Mark LT , I re-did the whole front of the interior but only got photos of the front seat.

lol yes, its the exact same seat.

All the material was there, it was just ripped along the seam, so I used a super strong adhesive to adhere it back to the seam, along with a patch underneath for extra area for the adhesive to bite.

Then I started the finishing process , a tiny bit of filler to smooth out the seam line and I re-sprayed the seats.

Thanks a lot guys, I really wish my battery didn't die or I would of had a better quality finish shot.

My phone wont use the flash once it hits 5% battery power.

Damn! This is crazy good result from a DIYer!

You motivate me to learn doing this. Is there a kit where I can change the tan color leather into something exotic like red or match the one on super car like LFA or Lambo ?? I just love using exotic color that stands out.

Where can you buy this kit? How much? And please write a DIY guide!!!!

I'm EXCITED

Thanks a lot man

With this kit, you can literally match any color you like.

(edit) there are better kits out on the market now but you have to register as a business , I don't belive they are being sold to the public

The SEM kit was fun but its not nearly as efficient as the new ones out.

For one they have hundreds of real automotive manufacturers leather color codes, so you can dig one up and match it fairly easily.

Or you can just look through the color swatches that come with the kit and you can just freely pick anyone you like and then match it.

I bought the 1/2 gallon kit, which is fairly expensive but id say worth it.

I think the retail is about $1500 for the whole kit, but you get like 6 or 7 gallons worth of product.

You can literally do limitless cars with that amount of product.

Its weird because I used to hate this product when I seen people using it, I said they are spray painting their interior and its ridiculous, but actually its not, its a pretty well respected product at this point and many body and detailing shops use this very system.

I used to be a fan of leatherique products because I thought they were an actual dye and not a coating, but that is wrong, they are also a coating, same as SEM, and they have much less support for matching colors, in fact they have NONE.
Thanks for sharing! Man you are a baller!!!!! $1500 for the kit WOW!

All I really want is doing 1 or 2 cars to make them red or orange seats. Do they have a mini-kit that cost less? Also, what tools do they contain in the kit?

Do you have to sand everything out before you apply the new dye? Can you briefly walk us through the process?

Oh in that case just cut a small 1 or 2 inch square of material from somewhere under your seats and send it to them.

Or try to find the color code to your interior and let them know.

Either way they can match it for you and send you just enough material you need for the 1 or 2 cars.

Id suggest getting a full quart if you plan on doing 2 cars.

Yes you need to sand and thoroughly clean the seats before spraying the dye.
