Default Re-Paint?

Hello,
Have platinum metallic 97 sc400 with perfect paint except for the spoiler which has swirls and fading as shown in pics. Have been quated $150 for a repaint from local shop but is there another method to correct this issue judging by the pics.
Suggestions/ideas/expertise is much appreciated.

150 is nothing considering they do a good job matching the paint. I think re paint is your only option. Maybe try wet sanding first.

You have clearcoat failure so you have to re paint unfortunately.

You can do it yourself for about $50 or $60.

You would need to sand the clearcoat down to where everything is even and smooth
Primer the spoiler
Spray it with a urethane based aerosol can mixed by a paint shop and then clear coat it with a 2K clear which you can get in a spray can. You will need a respirator with the 2K clear.

Don't bother with the paints/clear you can get at the regular auto parts shops, they are enamel or lacquer based and won't last if its out in the sun/elements plus the clear will be vulnerable to gasoline and other chemicals, 2K clear will likely have compatibility issues with those paints too.
