Default Need some help refinishing wheels

Hey guys, just picked up a set of Maya's and they need some refinishing. I called a shop that refinishes wheels and got quoted $800. So I was like **** that I'll try to refinish them myself. I'm gonna buy a repolish kit and borrow a drill from work. The barrels have heavy oxididation and the clear coat is definitely fading and chipping a lot. Can I get any input guys?

Perhaps some better photos of the actual damage would be helpful

Look like you'll have to get that refinished. Look like the clear coat gone on the spot and polishing won't do much.

Yeah I was thinking about stripping the clear coat and then just painting myself and wet sanding and buffing.
