Default 13' GS350 F Sport - Driver seat peeling

Hi all,

Anyone with this issue yet?

Just saw this the other day and my heart skipped a few beats.

Is Lexus using cheaper leather now or what?

2013 GS 350 F Sport with 45K miles.

This GS is my wife baby. So, she really taken care of it. But not sure what going on here. Mind you, my wife is petite and only about 95bls.

Will warranty cover? if not, what should I do and have this repair?

Any suggestion would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Get to the dealer ASAP because you're close to max mileage for warranty. No sense in waiting. Make sure you go over the rest of the seats for damage as well. They can order a new bottom cushion cover and put it on in a couple of hours. Check to be sure the color matches the existing seat back before accepting the repair.

Holy crap!! That seat looks like an obese man has been dailying that seat. That's especially nice right if your wife is less than 100lbs, on any leather seat. Yikes

Hi

Thanks for your quick respond.

We only owned this GS since Dec.14 and its was an Certified purchase.

Not sure if warranty would cover after.

Thanks

Not only is the edge of the seat bottom cracked and worn, but It looks like the side of the seat back (2nd image) is really dirty and cracked. How did it get that dirty in just the 5 months since you bought the CPO car?

Maybe its the pictures but if that's supposed to be Flaxen, the whole color shade would be my worry (which could explain the seat peeling). Schedule a dealer visit, and see what they can do.

Ahh a CPO, good. It does appear that the seat was used by a much larger person. I had a 2005 RX330, I'm a big guy and my seat looked similar. The foam beneath my seat was compressed and caused the wrinkled appearance that the back cushion is showing and to a lesser degree the bottom cushion. I was outside of warranty and had DR Vinyl put additional foam (his recommendation) on top of the old foam. It helped appearance, support and comfort. The reason I'm telling you this, you may be able to convince the dealer that the foam needs replacement as well. They're going to have the leather off anyway...It's worth a try.

What kind of conditioner do you use? Mine is starting to show some wear and it's scaring me...

Not really possible to condition automotive leather since its sealed in polyurethane....but it's very important to clean the seats regularly...

The flaxen is hard to keep clean, use some warm water with a mix of woolite and a microfiber cloth...

I agree. I don't know what mileage the CPO warranty goes until, but I would definitely take it in to the dealership in hopes (demand?) of a warranty repair. Hopefully they won't declare it a wear item? But your mileage is so low, relatively speaking.

I use this one:
Amazon.com: Meguiar's G10916 Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner & Conditioner - 15.2 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: Meguiar's G10916 Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner & Conditioner - 15.2 oz.: Automotive

It removes my jeans stains, hair oil and makes the seats look like new with a slightly deeper red look on the Cabernet. The only wear I see is the creases on the sides from getting in and out. It makes me seats a little more slippery which is a good thing cause it makes my pants slide easily and not getting caught by friction causing those gashes.

And your girlfriend Kate Upton likes how it looks and feels too, right?

johnphan79: Did you ever get this issue resolved by the dealer?

I have a CPO '13 GS w/44k with Flaxen leather and noticed the same issue a week after I took delivery. Dealer recently promised to fix it but hasn't called me back just yet with details...They have a leather specialist that comes in mid-week to fix issues with their leather according to the service consultant.

OP or anyone else know if they typically fix it somehow with a dye or replace the seat/cushion?
