Default $200+ "limited edition" Carnauba Wax...

I've been seeing some really expensive wax being marketed as "limited edition," and using only the highest/purest grade carnauba.

Hype? Waste of money? Sounds awfully expensive for 16 oz tin of tree wax lol.

Anyone try this?

Sounds like BS to me like all the other "high end" carnauba waxes.

If you have cash burning a hole in your pocket, go ahead and buy some.

Yeah, I'm under the impression it's more hype than substance, although I have no idea. Just curious if anyone has actually tried it.

Here's Griot's version. Pinnacle has one too, among others.

They are nice. I used the Pinnacle one. But trust me, that slick and shiny property of it washes off after one good wash.

It's more for show cars, etc.

We got a client that likes it on his exotic cars and would ask for it every now and then even though we coated all his cars, but unless you drive a Ferrari or some nice show quality car that sits in the garage 95% of the year, you do not need this.

Yep, all good points.

For an everyday driver, non-show car it would probably be overkill and a waste unless you just have a lot of money.

I would think the main customers of these super expensive waxes aren't DIYers, but high-end detailers, who want to be able to offer their customers some degree of exclusivity, so they can justify paying four and five figure sums for detailing their cars.

Yeah, I was just curious if anyone had any first-hand knowledge or use of these and could either sing its praises or tell us they can't tell any difference from a run-of-the-mill wax.

In other words, anyone out there try this stuff or personally seen it after it has been applied?

Damn, people pay this much to get their cars detailed? I mean I understand with a full coat of a sealent of some sort, but wow.

IMO you are paying for the container. I purchased some Wolfgangs wax which usually comes in a very expensive container...it was on sale in a non expensive container. I purchased it thinking I was getting bulletproof wax. It was a good wax but really about the same as Kit wax I paid $5.00 a bottle for...so no real advantage unless you are a car wax container collector.......

I have the Wolfgang fusion wax. I bought it when it first came out for $175. I have to agree that it is the type of wax that is only used for show cars. It doesn't last that long on the paint and it can easily be stripped off. I primarily use it as a topping wax over a nice layer of sealant on my diamond white pearl SC300. It provides a nice warm yellow glow to my pearl paint.

I also tried it on my obsidian black IS250, and I didn't really notice a difference. It basically looked the same with or without the fusion wax on top of the sealant.

In summary, it only looks good on pearl paint and it is not meant for protection in my opinion.

The container for fusion isn't even nice. It's just a standard black tub in a wooden box. Fusion comes with a free refill, so it is really only half of the advertised price, but they force you to buy 2 at once.

You just have to email them a picture of an empty container and the certificate for them to send you the refill.

From my experience and research you are paying for a $10 or $20 wax and then $180 or more for a fancy container, brand name, and scent with those pricey high end Carnuba Waxes. Worst thing is they just don't last long or look the way do for long, after your first wash most of it goes away.
