Default Pine resin

After parking under the Pinetree, I've found a few drops of pine resin on the windshield.

Is there a way to remove it safely and effectively without damaging glass?

Yes, a solvent based cleaner will easily remove the sap.

Try something like Tarminator... or even a little mineral spirits on a towel if you've got that laying around the house.

Plain old rubbing alcohol works the best.
