bumper damage - help
I have a pearl white 1999 sc400 which was in an altercation this weekend. Before I bring it to the shop, I wanted to know if any of the learned members had advise.
The back left bumper was rubbed when a car backed into me. It was a bumper to bumper rub. There is no apparent damage other than scratches, discoloration and one small but deep guage. The guage is the diameter of a peanut and about 2mm deep. Can this bumper be saved or will it need to be replace?? Help!!

Yeah Steve, it can be repaired. Just make sure the shop tells you HOW they will do it, because it must be done with an epoxy filler , matched to the hardness of the particular part, not a plastic ( i.e. bondo) type filler. The epoxy filler will flex, a polyester type (again; Bondo) won't. The first time someone tapped you or simply put pressure on your bumper, the bondo type filler repair would crack. Most good shops will know this anyway, but the consumer should always be informed.
You should not have to replace that bumper cover. Hope this helps.
