Default Clay Bar'n

I recently purchased just the standard meguiars lil' package of clay bar w/ quick detailer. Now i'm not that familiar w/ clay barring (as far as doing it yourself). What is the best way to do it, not a very detailed instruction on box.

i.e. Just a quick spray on area w/ detailer, then side or vertical motions with clay (light pressure) or how exactly?

Please help. THanks, i plan on doing a full detailing day Gracias.

biggest thing to keep in mind when using the clay bar is to keep the paint well lubricated. speaking from personal experience, there is no one good way to get out things embedded in your paint. sometimes side to side does the trick, sometimes up and down, sometimes circular. for the most part, it doesn't require major elbow grease though. what i try to do is clay in a shaded area, and re-wash each area when i'm done (e.g clay the hood, then wash the hood). it does a lot of good for your paint. enjoy.
