Default Paint transfer on tail lights

I want to tint my tail lights but there's some paint transfer on them from the idiot previous owner. does anyone know how to safely clean paint transfer off of plastic? Is it the same process as anywhere else?

Some rubbing or polishing compound should do the trick.
