The problem is that when the gold package is ordered the dealer can either purchase gold emblems thru Lexus parts or have a local plate the emblems. The Lexus emblems do have a protective coating but those plated locally normally do not. The Lexus emblems give superior wear but those plated locally will normally start to fade. The difference is dealer profit. The dealer can make a bigger profit by having a local do the plating as opposed to the purchase of the "Lexus" authorized emblems. It's all about money guys......
