You didn't give a brand name per- se, but...

Teflon in automotive products have always been of dubious concern among enthusiasts, mainly because teflon that is bonded to your frying pan got that way after heat was applied at ~700 degrees. Not something that is possible with a wax or sealant with teflon added.

Not saying it's snake oil, but unless someone can scientifically say how it's able to bond more effectively than a polymer etc. I would be wary.

If it looks good , and does no harm, I suppose it's difficult to dismiss unequivocally.

An open mind is good, but...so is science. Cheers.

True teflon, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a polymer, duh. If you could apply the monomer and polymerize it on the car that is one thing (but DuPont doesn't like anyone polymerizing it other than them), but that is not what you are talking about. Oh, teflon has some neat properties but understand it is not the most durable material in the world, it is soft among other things. Any of the goops that advertise teflon, whether it is an finish protectant or engine additive, have the polymer suspended in solution and it is applied with the other stuff in the solution. It has advantages and disadvantages. Most of the guys hyping teflon products are very adamant about the advantages and the truth is that is has advantages and disadvantages like anything else. Wonder if they would be as adamant if they weren't trying to get your bucks? If you go to Pebble Beach and see all the concours cars with some sort of teflon protectant, you could say somebody has something special. But for as long as these things have been around, I haven't seen one that wasn't just "competitive" at best. And then there are the car dealers who can get hundreds of dollars from mom and pop with some useless "teflon" protectant that will taint you forever if you have been involved in one of these scams.
