I'm wanting to switch the gold emblems on my 97 sc300 to chrome. I started taking the gold ones off and I got to the "Lexus" namebadge and the "L" on the trunk lid and quickly found out that those two are pegged. I opened the trunk to see if i could get to the back of the emblems and realized that I couldn't- so how do I go about getting these off? and will the new ones just pop in?

Use dental floss or fishing line to kinna saw them off. Get the line under the emblem and dont pull up, just work it back and forth like you were sawing under it. Whatever you do dont pry it off with anything.

I have a black RX300 and have the Lexus words and RX300 taken off and there were no hole, but the one in the middle, Lexus Logo, there are 2 small holes if I take it off, so I thought of taking it off painting it black. If I do this, can I put it back in?
Will it just pop back in and stick well?
Any input would help
Thanks

To properly cover up the holes, I think you need to obtain some type of filler that you can get from an auto parts store. Best to ask a worker there on what to get. Then you would polish and sand the areas down to level the surfaces before applying paint to them. If you choose to go along with the filler route, it would be almost next to impossible to put the 'L' logo back into place since the holes are plugged up with filler.

As far as putting a filler and having it match, that is a real pro's job, since to do it right, one would have to have the WHOLE back panel repainted.
But what I want to do is take the middle emblem offf, paint it black and put it back on. I take it I have to use double sided tape and replace the one thats on there?
would regular semi-Gloss spray paint work?
Thanks for all you info

This is my concern...The lexus namebadge and rear "L" if removed would obviously leave holes in the trunk lid, but I want to replace with chrome emblems, I just want to know if this is just a matter of sticking on over the holes with adhesive or should the replacement emblems have pegs on them that will insert back into the holes?

When I replaced my golf Lexus and (L). Yes, there were holes and the emblems had plugs. The replacement chrome ones, which I purchased recently, did not have holes. The emblems will just cover up the holes and will not have plugs on them.
