Default Lexus Emblems

Anybody know of any products to bring back the shine on the emblems? When I originally bought the car back in '98, I ordered the "gold package" on my Cinnabar GS (it brings out the gold pearl don't ya think?), but now the emblems are "cloudy" and not as shiny as before, not too bad but not up to the standards of a Lexus owner. I've since modified the car for the show scene and added a gold/orange pearl to it among other things, and the gold emblems just aren't up to par. I've heard there are products out there that will bring back the luster and shine on these types of finishes, but do they really work? I really don't want to spend another $350 for a new set of emblems if there is a more cost effective way. Please help.

I would take all the emblems off except for the L's and you can replace those for like $30 for both

I work at Lexus of Omaha (yes, here in Omaha, NE) and a LOT of cars that get gold packages get the stock emblems ELECTROPLATED. Basically, gold paint electronically bonded onto the stock chrome emblems......so, youre kinda screwed On my Cinn GS, I have Black Pearl (just the "L's") and it looks ****!!! What do you think!?

You're right MP, the emblems are plated just like you said, because I was there when they did it and the tech told me how the process was done. How does this affect bringing it back to a showroom shine though? I was thinking of changing to the black chrome for a while, but it doesn't match on my car IMO, especially now since I had my baby sprayed a custom pearl. By the way, you're GS is looking good. Any more detailed pics?

once the ELECTROPLATING has worn off, the emblems are shot, unfortunately If you feel up to it, you can take it back to the Lexus dealer and voice your complaint---->nothing happens, then start to ***** and demand. At my Lexus dealer, customer satisfaction is #1 and we bend over backwords, even for those customer WITHOUT valid complaints and just want **** for free ((sad i know)) BY THE WAY how much were you charged for the gold kit?? BECAUSE the electro-plate-guy that comes to our dealer only charges about $40/emblem... If you were charged the RIDICULOUS price of ~$700 you were dooped and are ENTITLED to new emblems

Also, i have many pics of the ride......what kinds did you want???

MP, thanks for the suggestions, hadn't thought of that. The gold package back then was a $400 option. Don't know what it costs now though. Any clearer pics of your ride? Looks kinda dark.

Hmm. That's one I haven't thought of either. I guess if I go directly to the electroplater there won't be that humongous dealer markup. Should of thought of that before I went to the dealer in the first place. Thanks Methodical and PM for the suggestions. That's why I love Clublexus, cause I can rely on my fellow Lexus owners!!

Niiiice!!!! Love the blacked out grill. But it makes the black chrome look like chrome, if ya know what I mean. I still love the black chrome though. That would have been my first choice, but wasn't available as an option back in '98. Now with my new paint, black chrome won't match. Gold will bring out the gold/orange pearl that I have now. But your GS is looking SWEEEEET!!
