Question minor touch up to leather

i have a small tear in my leather, and i am wanting to kind of hide it, i purchased a kit for repair. i mix some paint, clean the area, place paint on cloth, and heat. is this a decent alternative. its not a huge tear, but i was wanting to try it...anyone done it before?

Those DIY kits are not that great. You may want to go to an upholstery shop and get a quote from them to do it. It will come out a LOT better because they use much better stuff. I had this done on my boat's leatherette and you can't even tell it was done. Just my $0.02

Go for it. It can't hurt to try. That's why we come here in the first place isn't it? Post your results to let the rest of us know how it turned out for ya.

Good luck,

Not sure but you might want to think about this. Those repair kits are a glue compound and if you do it and it doesn't come out like you want it, a pro may not be able to repair the mistake so easily and maybe not at all over your applied fix. Just had my wife's car in for body work and she had a small tear in the leather and they had their leather guy do it while it was there. He found a couple of more small tears and fixed them all, I think the bill was $100 and you can't tell where he did the repair.

All for doing it yourself but I also respect the things where guys have the training and equipment to do it right. Leather should just look perfect to me.
