We recently picked up a new RX450h with the bamboo steering wheel. Nothing was mentioned about treating the wood during cleaning. I normally treat all leather surfaces of my cars once every 2 months or so with leather cleaner/protectant. Has anyone used anything on the bamboo to protect it from perspiration, grease, etc.? If feels as if it is untreated wood, although I would doubt that Lexus would use bare wood on a wheel.
Thx. I will have it back for paint treatment(ceramic?) next week. Will see if I can get an answer then.
Where did you email for answers, local of national??
On our fourth Lexus with the bamboo accent which we love by the way. Each we had about four years. Did nothing to the wood on the steering wheel other than wipe down with a product like Adams interior cleaner. They all looked after four years brand new.

Good to know. I assumed the wood must have some treatment on it to prevent stains, perspiration, baby food, etc. from adhering to the wood.
