Default New Car Care

I got a new NX, and I’d like to get it detailed. I’m not a “car person”, but I think a new car should get waxed? I’m not interested in spending money on PPF and ceramic coating that I’ve read about on these boards. Seems too expensive, and I’m not that meticulous about my car. What kind of services might I consider for a new car? Thanks!

Not what you want to hear, anything short of PPF or at least a proper ceramic coating is a total waste of time and money IMO.

An old school carnauba wax will at least give you UV protection and a great shine. Depending on where you live, you’ll have to reapply it again every couple of months.

So when I read about "clay wax", that is useless? I guess I'm surprised that people spend money on it and have for years...if it doesn't do anything. But I guess nothing should surprise me anymore :-)

Give Optimum Spray Wax a try. Quick, easy and it has carnauba. Optimum is the maker of ONR (Optimum No Rinse) wash.

You talking about doing it yourself or a detailer to do it? I say i good detailed with the proper technique so not to add anymore scratches. If you doing it yourself a good PH balance car soap, two bucket method , good wash mitt, then clay it, and then add your prefer wax or sealant to give it protection. Not every need PPF or coating for a person that doesn't notice or care for it. It like say I'm paying $1500 for a full paint correction and coating . Then I'm run it threw a carwash weekly it pointless to pay for what your not going to keep up with.

I would definitely hire a detailer. I’m looking for a good one in L.A.!
