Adding Ceramic Coating
Hello,
I have a recently acquired 2018 GS 350 F sport in Obsidian Black. I won't keep the car 5 years so I don't want to spend $1500 for a ceramic coating. A local detail show is offering the following for a little over $300. Would it make sense to purchase a ceramic coating to apply myself after I get the car back to provide better protection? After all, they've done the hard work in prepping the car already.
DETAIL & POLISH
1-2 DAYS

Well, you could do all that yourself if you have the time and energy and love of feeling of accomplishment. Various Griot's Garage tools, for example, can be used and you can use them year after year on all your cars.
The quality of ceramic sealant being offered at the detail show is probably about the same quality product as the Griot's at this link:

This would be a multi-year investment for $300.-$500. instead of a one-off if you got the d.a. orbital polisher, clay, etc. I have used their stuff and am real satisfied. At my age and physical condition, I could not do it all by hand anymore.

That's a great price of all that work I wouldn't even consider doing the same for $300. I don't know of any legit ceramic coating that lasts only 6 months.

I just got myself turtle SiO2 spray and it does say it lasts about 1 year if 2 layers are applied. The bottle cost me 13 bucks, and it does create a very slippery and glossy surface. It was very easy to apply.

Intermediate
I used 303 graphene nano spray, and that's lasted 6 months. If it were me I'd take the offer and do nothing myself for 6 months, or until the ceramic sealant they apply starts to wear off.
