Think of it like stuffing a V8 in the 1st gen GS300 for testing, and then finally releasing it as a GS400 when the new chassis/body style came out in "98".
Don't ask me how I know all this, but lets just say I have very reliable sources, of which Ethan can back me up on this.
I posted about this V8 IS project car on a previous thread, but at the time, I was not at liberty to mention that it was being done at RMM. (RominI and Ethan can back me up on this one too) I will look for the old post, but I'm pretty sure it was discussed almost a year ago.

My guess is that would go for way over $50,000 since it has a getrag. It seems like you can get a MUCH faster IS300 if you turbo the 2JZ block. Anyone?

Your exactly right Richie. Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but this was an excercise by Lexus in stuffing a V8 into the current IS platform for evaluation purposes, etc, etc. If there is any possibility that a V8 IS will ever be released, it will happen on the next gen IS production chassis.

What RMM could do is sell the motor and transmission mounts for people wanting to do something else then a GTE swap .

I agree with you 100% but, alot of "Lexus Owners" do not wan't a modded car. They want a stock car, from the dealer to driveway. I would love to turbo my IS down the road but if that IS430 comes out(here is the catch) with warranty and 300+hp I might have to get rid of mine. I have to weigh the yes, coolness with turbo car and no warranty or drive to Lexus and say" Here are my keys to the IS 430, don't know whats wrong....let me know when it is done".

I think Lexus is testing the water right now and waiting to see how many respones on the internet. If Toyota/Lexus got a go go signal to make a car, we'll not know it until 4-3 months before the car is launch.
Comon guys, now we see the Lexus's President of NA talking about the IS430 and RMM only make one car and then released the info on the internet...????. Why?. Toyota/Lexus is well know for keeping the secret on their new cars and now we got the press released of the IS430?. They're doing the internet survey befoe making the real IS430.
