Default 2011 GS460 build 11/2023

We just picked up this 2011 gs460 last week and have the following mods planned :

- chrome delete , 3m gloss black over all chrome except around the headlights. Trim around headlights will be color matched silver
- convert day time running lights , fog lights , hi beams, approach lights on side mirrors , vanity mirror lights , reverse bulbs , and trunk light to LED
- gs came with a muffler delete , will be removing the resonator , redoing the piping and adding Carven mufflers
- driver seat has seen better days , passenger seat has slight signs of wear so both will be redone to ensure they match
- stock 18 inch wheels to be rechromed , currently the chrome is flaking off ( gs came on 19 inch niche wheels )
- a Tune of sorts , or the isF ECU

below are pics of what will be changed:

Pre chrome delete 3 of 3

Drivers seat

Passenger seat

Congrats on the car. I recommend starting off with some general and preventative maintenance. Change the oil to mobil one extended performance. OEM engine oil filter, and engine air filter. Plugs are probably due for a swap as well. I had my own plug seals done at the same time. The PCV valve is cheap but pretty difficult to change, I had the dealer do it. It will greatly increase the life and durability of your engine. Changing the differential fluid is pretty easy, you can do it yourself. I also changed my transmission fluid, but not everyone does that since failure is rare. On these cars, the brake actuator tends to fail, so look out for that. Also the starter as well, but I haven't had issues with mine.

The current tuner for the GS 460 is LOI, he's on Facebook. I think trey used him. Also somebody is currently selling and ISF TCU in the Facebook group. $850. You might want to wait until you finish the exhaust and everything else before you tune it.

I believe that most of the lights are LEDs already. I changed my fog lights to yellow LEDs, they look good. And I remove the orange reflectors when I change my headlight lenses. I also turned off the DRL's using techstream. Something to consider.

awesome info!
thank you

the car is currently at my Toyota/Lexus mechanic being gone thru. I will have him look into the items you mentioned

The previous owner bought the car with a Lexus warranty so all of the spark plugs were changed , brakes all redone , valley plate reseal was recently done among other things … it came with just over $8,400 in receipts from the stealership by his house in Chicago, that was one of the main selling points for me in making the trek for this car

I live about 15 miles from TRD ,I’ve been told they are pretty welcoming to odd Toyotas and Lexus rides over there so I am going to show up there and see if they will do the tune for me before I look into anything else 🤞🏻
once she’s done at the mechanic she will be in for the chrome delete and then exhaust

Thank you! One other thing I would like to add, regarding dealer maintenance.
You can make an account on the Lexus Drivers website, input your vin number, and it will let you look up the service history.

Never heard of Carven exhaust and did some research, looks like they are popular in the truck / suv community. That exhaust sounds extremely different than other gs460....so deep. Sounds good but also kind of truck like. How is the drone? You didn't do an X pipe?

I am contemplating doing a similar setup, true duals but with an X pipe and vibrant resonators. Shop told me about $800. Considering just to do secondary cat delete for $150 then tune by Loi for $800 I think it is. For the headlight chrome, look on Amazon for 3M 1080 G120 Gloss White. Its pretty much the perfect color match for our cars.

I went with carven since my buddy has it on his 4runner and it sounds amazing. That video only has about 12 miles on the exhaust… once I get some miles on her this weekend I’ll post another one to see if you can notice any difference

the carven mufflers are only $100 or so each ( I went with the smaller ones which are louder ) and the labor I paid for the install, tips and other work he did was $500

i have no X pipe … I had both of the y pipes removed along with the resonator … it’s a true dual exhaust now
I left both cats due to both sets looking like they have plugs coming out of them and I can’t stand check engine lights being on for something like that

I ordered the silver wrap to finish off the headlights but I am waiting on that to come in

Thanks for the info! Figured no x pipe based on the sound. I think running straight dual with no crossover is actually going to make you lose power. A H, X or Y pipe is usually recommended. The secondary cat delete won't throw any codes, just a FYI.

Looking forward to the rest of the build!
