So it begins, again, another car for me to chuck money and time at for probably someone else to enjoy in the future, I am going to try and keep hold of this for at least a year, it's a joke between colleagues as I typically have a new car every 2-3 months!
This thread if anything will keep me up to date and future owners will have at least some history! haha
This is my new to me Toyota Celsior in 062 - 2002 middle jap spec model
overall am happy, gearbox has been slipping from 2nd to 3rd ever since I got it, 'new' used gearbox put in it recently although general driving seems to be better, still slips, so fluid check on monday and hope all is well after that, if not i suppose it could be a myriad of things just hope it isn't costly as would like to start putting my time and money into the maintenance which has surely been missed, some new shoes and brakes! it also needs an exhaust as it is more rust than metal now.
I don't think I have done too much to it at the moment, will update the lists below as time goes along.
Things been done;
Interior LED bulbs
LED plate bulbs
Cheap repeaters to replace the chrome surrounded JDM blown LED units
Removed the chrome surrounds from the rear lights (broken and not to taste)
Removed badges and started to fix the rear end aesthetically.
Reset the VSC and it hasn't returned
Elimated the Red Triangle as someone put just 1x LED bulb in the RH rear cluster?!
Gearbox been replaced with and SC430 one, but the dipstick is half way down the bay now so may have to make something up to reach this in future.
New battery
Things to do;
Still get the box sorted as still slips
Exhaust
Wheels/Tyres
Suspension bits (drives fine but preventitive)
New/Used rear cluster(s) 1x has a crack
Fix drivers side window (seems to have a gap at the top)
Replace motors in both front windows
Paint lower plastics on doors (clearcoat failure)
Paint both bumpers
New chrome trim all round
Remove the black trim from pillars and decide to wrap or polish it
Timing Belt / Pulleys etc. inc Plugs / Oil
Missing one portion of NS rear handle
Repair or replace NS mirror casing
New amp on the way from Japan (pioneer) and fix audio.
Enjoy it? haha
original images from the import, I know of 3 owners at least since import on a FB page but I am no.7!
maintenance and things seem to be missed there has less KM on it now than when the belt was last done also, (have so much mechanical sympathy wouldn't matter if it was 1m miles out.)
Also had some lovely gold Lexus LS400 badges on it, which for some bizarre reason is incorrect in at least 2 ways haha,
previous have put another exhaust system on there and currently no audio although the front unit does beep with selections and works visually, presumably a dead amp.
This is the progress of the rear end, it does have the black celsior badge in place now at least just waiting on some time to do the proper T badge in it's place.
Oh and I still need to sort out the boot/trunk as for some reason the previous owners don't like carpet?!
it's tidier than this now, but literally has nothing in it trim wise!
