Default 1jz Sc400 swap

So i’m swapping a 1jz vvti out of a jzx110 with an r154 into my sc400. I went to swap it in today but then realized the oil pan was hitting the steering rack and subframe which wouldn’t allow me to get the motor mounts in. I was researching and realized sc300s are rear sump but my 1j is a front sump. is there a way to make the front sump work? or do i have to make it a rear sump?

You cannot make the front sump oil pan work, no. You must swap on a rear sump version.

What you have to do is buy a JZ rear sump upper and lower oil pan set (and the pickup and also the oil dipstick, dipstick tube and O-ring) and swap it on. If you acquire this from any 1992-2005 2JZ-GE engine or 1JZ-GE engine then you will need to tap and fully drill out (and smooth) the un-machined turbo oil drain area. Do that and get ALL the metal shavings out on a donor rear sump GE upper oil pan *before* installing it onto the 1JZ-GTE engine.

You can get these parts used from a 1993-2002 Supra 2JZ-GE/GTE engine, a 1992-2000 Lexus SC300 2JZ-GE engine, or from a 1991-2000 Soarer 2JZ-GE or 1JZ-GTE engine. Those are the only Toyotas that got the JZ with rear sump oil pans.

Driftmotion usually carries these parts in their inventory as well.

...

Also, another important note: you need to use engine block mounting brackets from a Supra MKIV 2JZ-GE or 2JZ-GTE, SC300, Soarer 1JZ-GTE, Soarer 2JZ-GE.

You can use Supra MKIV late model engine mounts (with the rubber) on them. The best thing is to source these brackets from an SC300 donor car to be sure they are correct. A JZX100's 1JZ engine brackets most likely are different from what is needed.

I ran into this issue myself when I built my 2JZ-GTE completely from spare parts (including with a donor used rear sump upper and lower oil pan set) and realized that I had a couple sets of incorrect engine brackets. I ended up taking the engine mount brackets off my SC300's original engine and swapping them onto the new block with new MKIV late model engine mounts which solved the issue instantly.

The exact same will apply for both acquiring the correct oil pan and correct engine mount brackets for your donor JZX100 1JZ-GTE VVT-i engine.
