RC Touchpad Retrofit Into 3is

RC Touchpad Retrofit Into 3is
I have found out the wiring in order to create a plug and play connector between the 3is and the RC Touchpad. This can be used for installing an RC center console into an IS, and keeps you from cutting into your cars wiring. This is for 2014-2016 model touchpads only. The newer ones have a different connector.
Materials:
1. 16 pin female connector for stock 3is mouse plug
2. 10 pin male connector for Rc Trackpad plug
3. wires and pins
NOTE: Most items can be found on Amazon and Aliexpress
Instructions:
NOTE: All the wires colors are the same between the two systems, all that is needed is a re routing of the pins on the 10 pin connector plugging into Rc Trackpad.
1. Pins and Wires:
NOTE: If pins and wires are separated, connect the male leads to one end of the wires, and female leads to the other end of the wires. The harness does not need to be overly long, it should be between 4-5 inches.
2. Wiring 16 pin connector:
NOTE: on the back of the female connector (wire side) pins go in backwards so that when the connector is plugged in it corresponds to the correct pins on the stock Is connector. Also pin 1 starts at the top right, pin 16 is at the bottom left. You will be inserting the male ends into this side. The top of the connector will be the flat side, the bottom will have a hook and slide on it for connecting to the vehicle frame on different applications ( not used here). Insert the pins with the hook facing up on the male lead on the wire.
Pins:
- Pin 4: Purple (Violet) | MO+
- Pin 5: Pink | MO-
- Pin 7: Light Brown | ACC
- Pin 8: Purple (Violet) | Batt +
- Pin 9: Light Brown | ill-
- Pin 10: Black/White | GND
- Pin 16: Green | ill+
NOTE: ensure pins are plugged all the way in, this can be seen on the connection side of the connector, they should all be the same length. Plugging this side into the stock connector at this point will ensure the wires are placed correctly, they should correspond to the same color on the opposite end.
3. Wiring 10 Pin Connector:
NOTE: This is the rerouting process for the smaller male connector. The top of the connector is the side with the push button. The female end of the wires will be used on this side. Pins will be inserted hook down. Some connectors come with a clip, lift this until it unclips but don’t remove, then push down to lock after inserting all of the wires. On other connectors you just need to insert the wire. Pin 1 is on top right, pin 10 is on bottom left.
Pin Conversion:
NOTE: Using the pins provided above, you will be inserting that corresponding wire into the matching pin on this end.
Pins:
- Pin 4: Purple (Violet) | MO+ , goes to Pin 9
- Pin 5: Pink | MO- , goes to Pin 8
- Pin 7: Light Brown | ACC , goes to Pin 6
- Pin 8: Purple (Violet) | Batt + , goes to Pin 1
- Pin 9: Light Brown | ill- , goes to Pin 5
- Pin 10: Black/White | GND , goes to Pin 10
- Pin 16: Green | ill+ , goes to Pin 2
ENDING NOTE: Once all wires are connected securely, it is suggested to wrap the wires in electrical tape for further protection and to keep all wires together. You now have a plug and play harness for swapping the RC touchpad over to the IS. Plug the stock plug into the harness, then plug the harness into the trackpad. One downside is that the back button will not function due to it not being in the cars software, but all other functions should be working, if menu, home, or the touchpad do not function check wiring.
