Guys, might do the V160 swap instead of building the A340E...Looking into all that is required and will let you know...

Now that's what i'm talkin' 'bout.
As for the money Ryan, lord knows building these cars isn't a wise investment....but as you know it pays dividends in a different kind of way. My wife says she'd rather I spent it at the strip club .

At the strip club, huh , somehow that seems more like your wish...

Again, the V160 swap is a maybe...I am not excited about the clutch needed to handle the power...It rattles in neutral, and the bite from a standing stop is rough...Losing more and more of the luxury ride...If the auto can be built, I will still prefer that way. I am spending lots of research into this subject matter before my final decision.

Yeah, Jon, the amount of money needed to build these cars is definitely insane...But I am keeping the car Plus, the 911 Carrera is coming soon as well...

An update on my project...
  • The header on the drivers side is by far the tougher of the two sides, especially when keeping the AC in the car, space is minimal, and at an absolute premium
  • We solved the problem of gaining additional room around the AC compressor by designing the header in such a way as to merge the primarys just above the AC, and route the exhaust tube over the AC compressor, down in front of it, and then slightly back up, so that the flange rests in approximately the same corresponding spot in front of the engine as on the passenger side.
  • The down pipe will route under the compressor where the oil filter is now housed, and the oil filter will be relocated.
  • The trick to making the header fit is by swapping the plate that fits on top of the AC compressor which mates the two hoses to the compressor. The stock Lexus compressor is a Nippon-Denso, and we got a flat plate that mates the hoses to the side...It is a perfect bolt-on fit...We gained several valuable inches by doing this. I expect that anyone who designs a similar setup in either the SC400 or drops a 1UZ into a Supra will follow our example.

Pics are coming, I am very excited about our progress...

Gang:

Here's a pic of the Nippon Denso factory plate we used to replace the stock one on the Lexus compressor...As you can see, it is a perfect fit...

Second pic is of the drivers side header with 2 rear primarys tacked on to the flange...

It will be done before to long...

Ryan

Driver side header nearing completion. All 4 primaries are tacked onto the flange, and clear the frame rail. Collector is being made, and downpipe to follow. The intercooler should be mounted next week.

I will keep you posted...

OK, here are a few more pics of the progress of the tough side...The Drivers Side Header...Also a pic or two of the passenger side with the downpipe...Two-three weeks more and Stage 1 should be done... Keep in mind that these headers and down pipes still need to be finished...They are merely shaped and tacked. When completed, they will be welded, polished and deburred, and ceramic coated black with a temp rating of up to 2000 degrees...
