thanks man... I figure it'll be a couple days still before I get her on the road... I have to reinstall the window trim, paint everything underneath the car black, finish clearing my headlights, install a driveshaft guibo I got, and clean up any overspray...

I can't wait to drive her...

I used 3 quarts of clear alone... It took just less than a quart per coat, so, about 3 coats...

Default grit

Cody,

You mentioned 2000 grit. Are you going to sand the entire car and then buff?

After a few days will the paint cure and smooth out? Mine always went the other way and developed MORE texture after a week. We never buffed till a month had elapsed. What is your process?

Thanks

John

yah, I'll wait at least a week - thats the recommended for this paint... i'll do 2000 and 2500 grit, then buff... I've never really seen it get better or worse with time, I just need it to cure nicely before really going at it... I just went and opened the garage to take a peek... only one run in the clear, and everything else looks great...

here's some quick pics - it's overcast, so the paint looks dark, I love this paint...

yah, the tips are painted... tomorrow I am going to be dropping the exhaust from the axle back and painting everything with high temp black, and using paint thinner to clean up the exhaust tips...

going to be using lots of black paint tomorrow for underneath the car and such...

not the same color... that's Barcelona red, a stock Toyota color... (3R3) is the paint code - I used 3R1 which is a stock Lexus color... mine will be both darker and brighter than that one...

that was my other optional color to go with, but I decided to stick with Lexus OE color...

thanks!

It's looking better by the minute too... got the window trim back in, a shiny black Lexus logo on the back, and the exhaust cleaned up... also coated the inner fenderwells in 3M rubberized undercoating, and painted the radiator supports a nice flat black...
