LS400 Supercharger Project
#31
Hey drifter....It is an early model (oval inlet) charger 90-93. I went cheap here hoping everything would work...then I will jump to a Magna Charger or twin screw with engine upgrade. I plan on going with water injection or an intercooler that Andrew is making at the moment. He says it will fit perfectly inside the manifold he made. Cant wait to see if and how she runs once I am done.
ive heard of M90s and M112s making some pretty big gains after being properly ported/rebuilt

Thanks for the great answer akxx... I will either go with Mobil 1 or R.P. 5w-30. Here is one more pic before I hit the sack. I had to mess with the Idle Air Control Valve to get the hose to not kink up when I routed it near the firewall. More details on that 2morrow. Enjoy.

However, I would imagine a ported M90 even at only 6psi will push you beyond what the stock ECU can handle (6psi standard M90 is about the limit), so you'll be looking piggyback at that point.
Now just imagine a ported M90 running a smaller 10psi pulley combined with a simple piggyback (Autronic?) and water injection/intercooler--I believe that is within the capabilities of a stock 1UZ with proper tuning--can anyone say "low 13-sec LS400"?

Here is the latest pic.
Yes that is a rising rate fuel pressure regulator... Many say it was not needed, but I plan on boost up to 10lbs.
2morrow I have to find out how to run the upper radiator hose and I need to make a run down to the store to buy some more right angle hose joints for some vacuum lines.
I plan I getting the blower ported as soon as I know this setup is working well. I plan on using the SMT6 or 7 piggyback ECU. All that remains is the cooling system which I need to research.

I don't think intercooling/injection will do you much good at 6psi since intake temps aren't that high since the blower is running in a sweet spot, efficiency wise. Once you go 10psi you'll definitely need to cool those charge temps.

I love the idea of the project and the install looks excellent. Only thing that is surprising is the 250 rwhp estimate. Sounds low to me if adding a supercharger. What factor are you using for driveline loss? How much hp at the motor are you estimating?

250 rwhp would be almost a 50% increase in power from stock. I don't think thats a bad estimate.
