Its true, while it does throw "nasty stuff" back into the intake, it also throws in unburnt fuel back into the equation which is calculated in the ecu's stock fuel maps. If your running a stock ecu, with no tuning device, and have some mods...well your definatly running the car leaner than idesired. How much, well it depends on the mods you have and where you are located. If your on the east coast in really low temperatures, running a decent exhaust/intake combo, you may start having some issues with knock. Then again, out there you guys have 93 octane unline the 91 octane **** gas we get here in cali. In either case, think things through before you do them and dont just listen to what everyone else says here. Having a cleaner engine bay does not justify having a non properly running one.

On a side note about the head gasket. Dont jump to conclusions about it being blown with the white smoke out of the exhaust. These motors are tough and cool real easily. Blowing a head gasket by overheating is pretty hard if you had coolant in the radiator and the thermostat isnt stuck or something. Taking a look at those 2 plugs that u had covered in oil could be the reason for the white smoke along with the idling issues you had. Either way, keep up the good work and if you have any questions, im sure well be able to help!

GL!

We only threw the headgasket in there as a "could be" since there weren't very many signs at the time. I did jump to that conclusion a little fast.

I'm certain it was the leaking valve cover gasket that had to have caused the issues.

In anycase, I cleaned up the covers and put the new gaskets on. I put all new plugs in, I cleaned entire surface where the covers go.

Put in a new oil filter, put back on the valve covers. Put a new oil filter on and put fresh oil in. Put new plug wires in and I also put in a new cap and rotor. I didn't do the PCV yet but I have the part and ill do it in the morning.

All thats left to do now is to put back on the Y-piece, finish deleting the EGR, route the vacuum lines and put the TB and intake stuff back together.

So tomorrow we should be ready to get the motor running again.

I'm praying that the motor will start and everything will be fine. I'm pretty sure its gonna stumble and idle rough when it first starts up. Hopefully it evens out after that.

Woo Hoo!!! So far its looking good. I had todd over this morning and he helped me figure out the vacuum lines. Cranked the car and it started right up.

I'm gonna let it run a while longer but so far so good. Idle is looking good to.

It sounds like a chevy becuase i left one part of the egr open. lol.

EDIT:

Everything is looking good.

Temps are normal, idle is a tiny bit high but fine at around 800-900, speedo reads 5mph lol. and no gas as usual.

A very big thank you to Todd, Gazi and Travis for all the help on getting this cruicial work done! Gazi for the tons of IM support, todd for the tech support over the phone and travis for helping me get all this crap done and hauling my wheels back in his trunk!

Also a big thanks to you guys here on the forums for all the support, advice and help!

Well it appears the motor is finally running properly. Its idling normally and sounds fine while in drive. I'm gonna flush the coolant and put in some toyo red and then change the PCV valve. I also have to block off the EGR port. lol.

To make sure the RPMs are truly correct im going to hook up the emanage while i have the car apart and double check to make sure the rpms are good.

After that I've gotta replace 6 broken studs.

Hopefully my springs get here this week!!

Then I can finally start cleaning up the interior. The driver side glass should also be here pretty soon.

This week i'm going to try to run wires for the carpc which ill be building soon.

Since I have the carpet out ill probably run extra wiring for gauges and any accessories I may add in the future such as turbo timer and extra gauges.

Features for car pc will include:

- MP3 playback
- Divx/Xvid Playback
- Iphone call integration via bluetooth
- GPS
- Full voice control via hidden microphone
- Emange control
- PSX emulator + wireless controllers
- bunch of other crap
