Header Install:
I would rate this as a 7/10 difficulty due to the fact that the front subframe had to be lowered to be able to remove & install the headers.
Right Side:
you can see the S&S header has a much better flow design

http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...-26-08_508.jpg
Left Side: this side was more difficult because of the steering box and the clearance issues

you can see the position of the O2 sensor location is a bit "off". This causes the O2 sensor to hit the steering box (pic below). I dont know if this is a fab error just on my headers or if all the S&S headers have this issue. It could also be that the headers are for a LS400 rather than a Celsior, in which the steering box is on the other side.

very little clearance between the header and the steering box (~1/4"), as well the O2 sensor 'stem' contacts the steering box. I had to gently bend the 'stem' a bit as I jacked the subframe back into position. I also wrapped the portion of the header around the O2 sensor with heat wrap.

I made some flanges and cut some straight pipe as a temporary spacer (no cat) until i get the rest of the exhaust fabricated this week.

Those headers look awesome, much better flow on them then stock. I think I saw a shorter O2 sensor that fits the LS, not sure about the Celsior. I can't remember where I saw it though. Do you plan on wrapping the headers for the heat, especially the one that had the heat sheild? (right side)

I believe the S&S headers are ceramic coated stainless steel, so I am not going to wrap them. Plus, the clearance is good in all spots except by the steering box, so air flow should be fine for cooling.
O2 sensors for the LS400 and Celsior are identical. if you can find out where you saw them, please let me know...i want to replace both anyway.

Installation wasnt that bad, but the hard part was lowering the subframe and accessing all the studs. some of the nuts had to be tightened with a wrench rather than a socket due to the location.

Its a nice project coming along there. Where did you get those S&S headers? I have looked around but no one is making headers for our LS400 :-( I really could use a pair for my full stainless steel exhaust project in the near future. But read alot about them S&S headers cracking. Sure dont want that to happen :-(
What about the methanol injection. Is it working good? I know you got supercharger also now but i wonder how much that would do for like a starter tuning until i get the money for a supercharger. It should be fairly easy to install right?
Keep up the good work Boyscout

the methanol injection is to lower the increased intake air temperature due to the supercharger. Not sure how much it would help a naturally aspirated engine.

Woow PPE where, what.. Never heard of it?? Just google'd it and found this: http://www.ppeengineering-onlinestor...?categoryId=32
But do they fit 91' LS400? It says LS430 and SC400. Looks preeeetty damn nice :-P Anyone had luck with those? No cracking etc.
If they do, ooohhhh im gonna write them on my wishlist for christmas!!

pm them

they should be able to get you a set that will be within range with reasonable modifications to your current exhaust setup (changing orientation or cats i THINK?)
