^ this is why I built my own. Play mp3s, video, check emails, surf web, GPS, HD radio for half the cost of a radio.

True that...I think it all depends on where you get all your stuff at. If you go on ebay and mp3car.com then you would be able to get a better deal. Speaking of backup camera...that might be the next thing I add to my carputer setup....but maybe down the road after I get most of the other stuff in first.

Thanks man Like I said I may fix the lip later down the road and make it really work so we will see how that all goes.

As far as turbo goes....since I'm about to graduate from college in the spring and go to graduate school I don't have a whole lot of money to throw into a turbo right now. My plans later down the road is to stick a twin turbo 1UZ in there but thats many years away.....that is....unless I take some of the money from the loans I will have to take out to go to graduate school and throw it in the car

Here is most of the stuff you would need to get a carpc running in our SC:

7" Xenarc TSV Touch screen w/ video outpouts for games, backup cam, etc. This is top of the line.
1 2.5" laptop Hard drive with OS installed.
1 3.5" IDE Additional Hard drive filled with MP3 and videos. Some extra stuff for kicks
Opus 150 Power Supply
GPS receiver for NAVI
Mini ITX motherboard
512 mb of memory
reset button
optional backup camera

Just remember if your going to go this route you will have to switch out your factory speakers and amp. You can still use your factory sub which is what I'm going to do since it does the job for me just fine. Let me know if you need any more info.

Its alot of stuff but if you search around and look for the deals you could get everything for a good price. Definitely hit up mp3car.com since that site will tell you everything and anything there is to know about putting a carputer in a car in every aspect.

No problem I'm learning how this all works myself so hopefully after I get mine installed I will have some better knowledge as to how everything works and tips on installing it. I know 2.5tsoarer did the work on his so he has more experience on this subject than I do at the moment.

So the screen is in the car but sadly the power supply is not turning on all the way so I'm trying to figure out the reason for that. Once that is figured out then it will be all done. Stay tuned for more pics and a video of the carputer up and running sometime this coming week.

Here are some pics of the install of the carputer. I decided to put the mobo under the passenger seat so it could be accessible whenever I want to upload anything. It's actually imbedded into the carpet of the car. We took out a piece of the carpet in order for it to sit further down under the seat so it would not get hit whenthe seat moves forward and back for people to sit in.

I need to give a shout out to several people who helped me with this project: AutocoutureSC for the actual carputer setup, redphoenix, and sholexman for helping me gut my car and installing the speakers, and James over at Proven Power for wiring everything up and working with me for many hours in 2 days

Also was able to get the rest of the vinyl trim finished on the car. As always 2.5tsoarer did the work and is the one who knows the details on the material used. Turned out great as always so thanks again man....you know I truly appreciate it

I will post up a video of the carputer in action once I get some things straightened out with it. Some minor things I want to get situated then I will show what it can do.
