and how did you get around the immobilizer?

lately i've been checking into how it could be possible to do a GTE swap and still pass the OBDII plug-in emissions test using a stock ECU and not a piggyback with the sc300 ECU. it's looking grim.

i'm thinking the best way to do it is with a haltech interceptor or FIC on the stock sc300 ECU...

My previous Check Engine Codes were 42, 14, 78

1 • How is your CEL not lighting up?

• Right now I only have Code 42. Which clears when the engine is turned off and if restarted will only illuminate when the car is driven.

CODES 42: Speed Sensor Signal. No Speed signal for 8 seconds when engine speed is between 2,500rpm & 5,000 rpm & Coolant Temp. is below 80 °C (176°F) when racing the Engine

I am using the Aristo 2jzgte vvti ECU with the AEM FIC. This ECU did not have the immobilizer feature.

• See Photos Below. The 2jzgte vvti has the section for the OBDII
Omitted.

• What I am thinking about doing to solve this issue. Getting another Patch Harness made-up But this time for a 2jzgte vvti to 2jzgte and disconnect the vvti and use Mkiv 2jzgte ECU & MAF Meter. This would only be used for OBDII Emissions Testing Only. What do you thing about this system??? Do you think it would work???
In teary it should work.

Aristo 2jzgte vvti ECU. 89661-3A470

98- 00 SC300 2jzge ECU.

Patch Harness

thanks for the response!

one thing though:
the black plug on this ECU is not for the OBD2 port.

the OBD2 port (on the car side) is plug D19 - Data Link Connector. you can check through your "engine controls" electrical diagrams and see that the D19 plug gets its inputs from several different plugs/pins on the ECU.

the black plug on the ECU we're talking about is plug E20.
the only things i can find that the E20 plug controls is the B2S2 o2 sensor and the TPC, whatever that is. E20 is just another ECU plug. i'm not sure why toyota made it a different color, or why it's separated slightly from the others off to the side, but it's not for the OBD2 port.

i'll attach the 99 SC300 ECU plugs and pinout for you, in case you didn't have it. i'll also attach a pic showing the D19 (odb2) plug.

^ i am confused about this here. were you saying the 2jzgte vvti ecu has the section omitted, or that you omitted to respond to this?

I get teary just thinking about it! yes, i believe this would work just fine. there should be no CEL for the vvti stuff becase the regular 2jzgte ecu doesn't know what vvti is...

Specal Thanks to David at Snap Performance for the 2jzgte vvti motor set and Ron from R & J Distributing for the 99 SC300 Engine Harness and oil pan
Why not use the parts from your motor????? I don't want to take apart my motorset. Just in case things don't go according to plan. We all know how things go.
