Default Grey to Black Interior Conversion - Build Thread

I will be documenting the grey to black conversion here.....

suede feels sexy......

I ended up going with Landau Black since its more of a factory black. Its very subtle though..... only 2 layers so far...

The sunshade panel is wrapped in real graphite suede by a upholstery guy

Paint for the center console and dash..... which is coming soon.

I use to be a big skeptic of painting dashes since i did it in my teenager years and it didnt work out well.... not to mention the cracks

Its a little different nowadays with more products coming out making this more reliable and higher quality vs before.

I used the higest quality products available.

Im also minimizing my paint since im only painting the top of the dash and the bottom of the console.

As far as the bottom section of the dash that will be a suprise...

The piece looks very stock and i even scratched it up by accidently putting a panel over it and it didnt seem to do anything to it.

Here is the carpet which was a PITA its not perfect but thats my fault. Not one could tell though once the seats are in...

The carpet was dyed and not painted.... I tried the painting route in my teenager years and while it looked cool it felt as if it was a wire brush if you rubbed your hand against it.

I wrapped the headliner and pillars with suede as well as the side pillar where the seat belt mounts to. I thought it would look tacky if i didnt wrap those pieces and only wrapped the headliner

My plan was to have everything else black and have the suede offset it.

I also wrapped the rear speaker cover panel in suede to match as well.

For the bottom of the dash and door panels im going to use something different to give it the black two tone look. Im looking for something that looks similar to the bmw style interior. Still working that out .....

Inside the armrest on the bottom its actually just a plate (you remove it ) that covers a couple of bolts.

Ill be working on the door panels last. Going to do black for the top piece , carbon fiber m3 style for the bottom , suede for the insert, and dye the carpet part black on the bottom of the panel

I havent worked on it for a week so thats why there are no pics yet. Ive included all of the pics of things ive accomplished so far.

I been contemplating if i should dump 4 or 500 into some sound dampening stuff.
