Transmission is going to be stock for now. I have 2 completed built transmissions on the shelf ready to go, but I'm too lazy to put it in the car lol. I'll probably do that next week. I might actually consider putting in a set of GTE internals, headgasket upgrade, and ARP head studs. My timing belt is due pretty soon, so might as well pull off the head while I'm at it

Yes, these are all just parts I have laying around lol

So what kind of hp numbers are you shooting for, and IIRC the stock tranny can survive about 250 rwhp safely?Good thing you have the built ones waiting? Wish I lived in your area!!

People on CL overestimate the time & cost to go NA-T 10 fold.

Cloead, most people estimate it according to shop prices. Not everyone is able to fabricate, install, and tune everything themselves. If I were to put a number on it, I think this entire setup cost me around $2500 including all the electronics and gauges. Most shops charge nearly $2000 or more just for a built transmission most of which is labor cost. The actual parts involved in a rebuild is probably around $400-500. Not to mention the install time and tuning that a shop would normally charge on top as well. I'm lucky that I can do it all myself so I just have to pay for parts

:werd:

I've been itching to do this to my GS. My tranny isn't the best as it sits though, doubt it would last with any more power thrown at it. Is that an AEM EMS box I see? The only real question I have is how to control fuel. I have the rest of the parts laying around the garage.

Wow, that's a first!! Most people are ragging on newbs who underestimate the cost of boosting a car, heheh.

True dat Jeff!!! I just wish I had the skills and time instead of relying on a shop. My Na-T project was over budget and I still am not happy with the results.

+1 you should make true bolt on kits for the gs300's. I bet you'll make a lot of money.
