next up was the borg warner mock up. The turbo is huge, and they sent me the wrong one. I originally wanted the one with the 90deg bend. but I figured I would make this one work.
I had to cut off the end and source a 2 and half inch bend to merge to the hotside. so needed Austin(the great) welding skills once more. I also attached a reserve to the compressor.
well it was then time to install the borg warner turbo. this thing is huge. I originally wanted the one with the 90 deg bend. but I was sent this one, I decided to make it work.
so I needed to fab up a new intake pipe that is 2 and half in diameter. once again I had so summon the god-like welding powers of Austin at (Austin-tech) of Nebraska.
also installed the reserve for the compressor side.
Just read this from the beginning. Great job man for not giving up on it when you ran into so many headaches.. This just motivated me even more to finish my 1j. What are the Specs of the BW? I was thinking about going with that but decided to go with the smaller BW SX256.

thanks all. didn't even know anyone was still reading these. not sure on the turbo specs. you can find them online though. iam just driving this around till I get my tune next week at sp. I have more to update.
Yea i know the feeling.. I stopped posting pics and updating my thread.. but im goign to start posting pics and updates soon.. Hopefully my build will help others that want to do a 1j swap. When i started mine i was digging thru archives to see ppl 1j threads haha. Noticed alot of the OG arent around anymore so sometimes its hard to get some answers. But either way nice build man. What hp goals are you shooting for?

you know iam just throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks. if I get less than 600, I will be kinda disappointed.
I used mark's build as a guide but he sold his. and you are right, none is around here really, must had gotten gtr's or something.
so here are some pics I lost/found are of some of the other stuff I did. I didn't have the proper tools to properly strip these valve covers. so I used a grinder brush. and I had some paint that matched my color code to spray on the valve covers.
here is a new damper I got offline for less than $100.00 dollars.
and here is what perfect tdc looks like. and here is installation of my pulley kit.
