BFI Build with Pictures
Hey all,
I finally decided to sit down and grind out my BFI, and let me tell you it was worth it I'm feeling a lot more pull through the higher RPMs and the new sound is definitely a plus! Special thanks to Scott for all the help
Here goes:
Stock airbox
Modified airbox:
This was hard to do because all I had on me was a Dremel with a grinding head! Wasn't as precise as I'd like but it'll do for now.
Lid template:
My measurements were off on this one, my Sharpie ended up dipping under the airbox when I was tracing the top and it gave me a slight gap. Will be redoing soon!
Finished lid:
Was a bit worried about the trim on the end that seals to the frame, hopefully it doesn't melt being that close to the radiator
Box and lid fitment:
Notice the gaps...will need to fix soon, but will do for now.
Air box fitment into engine bay:
Fitment with lid:
I made a very impromptu bottom tray, so I didn't bother posting any pictures of that. All in all the project took me ca. 5 hours to do, including trial and error removal of the air box and a bit of rain that halted the project. I'd say it's good for a first attempt, but I'll definitely be redoing the lid soon!
Let me know what you think

I bet, I wouldn't like seeing down into the gap left by the snorkel every time I opened my hood. I borrowed very heavily from ScottUrNot's BFI build, you should check his out.
