Finally a small build going on with my SC300
So recently my buddy totalled his car. So I have the task of parting it out. Since the outside was pretty much gone ( refer to below picture ) I figured it would be a great opportunity to start doing some interior restoration and practice my techniques and skills. So I ended up using his panels as the test subjects, which I will use on my car so that I can quickly swap out interiors since my car is a daily driver and I cant have a long downtime on it.
I know a lot of you on the forums have been using SEM dyes, but I invested myself into a small shop with 2 of my buddies and I work part times at Advance Auto so my budget was limited and I used what I had available. I opted for the Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric spray available on just about every auto parts store's shelf pretty much anywhere. I used it before on my 240SX dashboards and it worked out real well.
So here was the starting material:
And after some degreasing, cleaning, drying etc. Here are the results:
Dont mind the dust, its been sitting for a few days after I painted it. I zoomed in to show details and overspray in a few spots I had.
I also attempted to tint the tail lights using some Japanese brand spray.
This didnt turn out too well, had some over spray, might have been too cold in the shop for spraying. This tint spray when done right ( LOL ) is actually nicer then those VHT sprays since rather then giving it a black paint look it makes it look like smoke. Here are some shots:

Yup and he owned the car for I dunno... 2 months if that? Was very clean :cry;
But As far as the seats they are up for grabs. Passenger side and rear are for sale shoot an offer if you want them.
As far as my interior, well im going to paint all my panels black including the carpet, im then going to install everything and get a Corolla / Celica or maybe IS300 steering wheel. I also plan to run RSX Type S leather seats. I will then have a full blown black interior conversion.
I also plan to put Megan Street Series coilovers, Pioneer double din from the AVIC series, upgrade speakers, do some maintenance, mainly tune up, LS400 big brake upgrade, got some aero parts to put on and eventually wheels as well as a 1JZ.

Its Duplicolor Vinyl and Carpet paint. Its made so that it stretches and doesnt flake off. When you touch or press the vinyl its flexible.

I envy you for having 2 set's of interiors! My car isnt my daily but having an extra set, at least Id know if I messed something up majorly I could replace it in an instant.
Looks very good, though. Interested to see how the paint holds up. SEM is pretty hard to come by and I was thinking about the Duplicolor as well.
In for finished shots
Keep up the good work!
